The legendary DJ John Peel once said that most of the music he played had some sort of Beefheart influence. Make no mistake, many of the greats were influenced by this album. From Tom Waits to Kurt Cobain, Trout Mask Replica paved the way for future alternative acts. Although Beefheart is known in the musical world as a visionary and a genius, he remains unknown to the current audience...the audience of the same artists who continue to borrow from this album. From the bluesy edginess of "Moonlight on Vermont" to the silliness "Neon Meate Dream of a Octafish"...this record is nothing short of a versatile and innovative work from a musical visionary.
